No obstant aix\u00f2, aquest \u00fas massiu tamb\u00e9 planteja preocupacions ambientals i de salut, cosa que ha impulsat un inter\u00e8s creixent per avaluar-ne els impactes i explorar opcions m\u00e9s sostenibles.<\/p>\n<h2>Identificaci\u00f3 dels pl\u00e0stics en envasos<\/h2>\n<p>La gran varietat de materials pl\u00e0stics i les diferents possibilitats de reciclatge va portar, fa m\u00e9s de mig segle, a crear un sistema senzill per identificar-los de manera universal. Aix\u00ed, el 1970 va n\u00e9ixer el conegut s\u00edmbol del reciclatge, un triangle format per tres fletxes que es persegueixen, tamb\u00e9 anomenat triangle de M\u00f6bius. Dins aquest s\u00edmbol apareix un n\u00famero de l\u20191 al 7 que indica el tipus de pl\u00e0stic de l\u2019env\u00e0s.<\/p>\n<p>Alguns exemples s\u00f3n el tereftalat de polietil\u00e8 (PET, codi 1), com\u00fa en ampolles d\u2019aigua i sucs; el polietil\u00e8 d\u2019alta densitat (HDPE, codi 2), present en ampolles de llet i envasos de detergent; i el polipropil\u00e8 (PP, codi 5), emprat usualment en envasos de iogurt i tapes d\u2019ampolles. Aquests codis es poden identificar als productes de consum diari a les nostres llars.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Alguns ftalats poden afectar la fertilitat, danyar el fetus, alterar el sistema hormonal i fins i tot afavorir problemes respiratoris com l\u2019asma<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Pres\u00e8ncia d\u2019additius de pl\u00e0stic<\/h2>\n<p>A m\u00e9s del tipus de pol\u00edmer, els pl\u00e0stics contenen una \u00e0mplia varietat d\u2019additius que s\u2019incorporen durant la seva fabricaci\u00f3 per millorar-ne les propietats i adaptar-los a diferents usos. Aquests compostos permeten que un pl\u00e0stic sigui m\u00e9s flexible, m\u00e9s resistent a la calor, m\u00e9s durador, m\u00e9s colorit o menys inflamable, entre moltes altres funcions. Entre els additius m\u00e9s utilitzats hi ha els retardants de flama, antioxidants, estabilitzants t\u00e8rmics i lum\u00ednics, lubricants, pigments, agents antiest\u00e0tics i plastificants, cadascun amb un rol espec\u00edfic.<\/p>\n<p>Un exemple d\u2019aquests compostos s\u00f3n els coneguts <strong>ftalats<\/strong>, utilitzats durant d\u00e8cades com a plastificants, o b\u00e9 els<strong> \u00e8sters organofosforats<\/strong>, que poden actuar alhora com a plastificants i retardants de flama. Molts han estat associats a efectes t\u00f2xics, especialment quan l\u2019exposici\u00f3 humana es produeix a trav\u00e9s dels aliments. Encara que en els darrers anys s\u2019han incorporat plastificants no ftalats amb una toxicitat aparentment menor, encara hi ha dubtes sobre el seu impacte real i el seu comportament en el medi ambient a llarg termini.<\/p>\n<p>Per il\u00b7lustrar la seva pres\u00e8ncia a la cadena aliment\u00e0ria, un estudi recent va analitzar 109 mostres d\u2019aliments i en va detectar plastificants en el 85%. Els aliments amb concentracions m\u00e9s grans van ser carns, condiments, productes infantils i peixos, i es va observar a m\u00e9s que el tipus d\u2019env\u00e0s influ\u00efa en els nivells trobats. Les dones embarassades i els nens petits s\u00f3n els grups m\u00e9s vulnerables. En particular, <strong>certs ftalats poden interferir amb el desenvolupament sexual dels homes<\/strong>, cosa que podria derivar en infertilitat a l\u2019edat adulta.<\/p>\n<p>Encara que actualment no hi ha l\u00edmits legals de concentraci\u00f3 de ftalats en els aliments, s\u00ed que s\u2019apliquen els anomenats <em><strong>L\u00edmits de Migraci\u00f3 Espec\u00edfica<\/strong><\/em>, que estableixen la quantitat m\u00e0xima de ftalats, entre d\u2019altres, que pot passar del pl\u00e0stic als aliments. Alguns d\u2019aquests compostos, coneguts per ser t\u00f2xics per a la reproducci\u00f3 i disruptors endocrins, inclouen: Bis(2-etilhexil) ftalat (DEHP), Bencil butil ftalat (BBP), Dibutil ftalat (DBP) o el Diisobutil ftalat (DIBP).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>La fabricaci\u00f3 de pl\u00e0stic podria arribar a 26.000 milions de tones el 2050<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Per a cada un hi ha un l\u00edmit espec\u00edfic de migraci\u00f3 en aliments, i a m\u00e9s hi ha un l\u00edmit grupal que regula la suma de tots aquests compostos; \u00e9s a dir, hi ha un m\u00e0xim global per al conjunt de compostos.\u00a0Per\u00f2 els efectes dels ftalats no es limiten a la salut humana; tamb\u00e9 s\u00f3n rellevants per al medi ambient. El seu \u00fas massiu ha provocat que grans quantitats arribin als ecosistemes, especialment als medis aqu\u00e0tics. Un cop all\u00e0, poden generar efectes t\u00f2xics significatius a la fauna marina.<\/p>\n<h2>Protegeix la teva salut: reduint l\u2019exposici\u00f3 a ftalats cada dia<\/h2>\n<p>Encara que l\u2019exposici\u00f3 als ftalats no prov\u00e9 nom\u00e9s dels pl\u00e0stics en contacte amb els aliments, ja que tamb\u00e9 s\u00f3n presents en productes electr\u00f2nics, t\u00e8xtils, autom\u00f2bils i altres b\u00e9ns de consum, \u00e9s possible reduir-la de manera individual.
