Ahead of the meeting, <strong>OPTA Europe<\/strong> calls to improve the text by providing the effective means for enforcing the right of organic food and drink makers to keep their products free from gene edition.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_102345\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-102345\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-102345 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bioecoactual.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ngt.jpg\" alt=\"New genomic techniques\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bioecoactual.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ngt.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.bioecoactual.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ngt-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.bioecoactual.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ngt-630x420.jpg 630w, https:\/\/www.bioecoactual.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ngt-696x464.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-102345\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">123RFLimited\u00a9kuprevich<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>OPTA Europe highlights the areas in which the text must be improved to protect organic industry and consumers: <strong>Traceability and labelling along the supply chain<\/strong> \u2013 considering how complex supply chains can be, meeting the NGT-free commitment with the organic consumer can only be achieved through robust traceability measures -including labelling of NTG-derived products- throughout the food supply chain, so that each actor at every step is duly informed if products obtained from NGTs are involved.<\/p>\n<p>Means to <strong>enforce the NGT-free rule on imports<\/strong> \u2013 in the absence of an harmonized approach with trading partners, EU importers of organic products need the technical means to identify in practice gene-edited products.
