For the seventh year in a row, Eco-September\u00a0<\/strong>(Eko-september, in Swedish)\u00a0being organized \u2013 the national campaign that focuses on organic food and drink. For four weeks, stores, food companies, farmers and organizations come together to jointly promote the organic added value. This year’s campaign has more partners than ever and over 50 activities in stores<\/strong>, on farms, food festivals and harvest markets around Sweden.<\/p>\n

Pancake parties and eco-festivals across the country<\/h2>\n

One of the campaign\u2019s most popular features \u2013 the organic pancake parties<\/strong> \u2013 is being arranged in a large number of stores across the country, including ICA, Coop and Hemk\u00f6p. This year\u2019s partners include Arla Eko, Sk\u00e5nemejerier, Falk\u00f6pings Mejeri, Sundborns Lantbruk, Dava Lant\u00e4gg, Stj\u00e4rn\u00e4gg, Catarinas Spr\u00e4tth\u00f6nseri, Salt\u00e5 Kvarn, Bj\u00f6rkaholms Kvarn, Lundens G\u00e5rd, \u00c5ker & \u00c4ng, Bj\u00f6rnekulla, Torfolk G\u00e5rd, Grang\u00e4rde Musteri\/Tillmans and Wid\u00e9um Garden.<\/p>\n

Pancakes are not only delicious \u2013 they are also baked with raw materials that are absolutely crucial for Swedish organic agriculture<\/strong>. Dairy and grain are key categories for maintaining organic farmland in Sweden. If we lose organic dairy and grain farmers, we risk not only losing important areas, but also biodiversity, says Charlotte Bladh Andr\u00e9, CEO of Organic Sweden.<\/p>\n

In addition to pancake parties, there will be activities such as Eco Farmer in Store, open organic farms, harvest parties and food festivals. Especially a lot will happen in Sk\u00e5ne, V\u00e4stra G\u00f6taland, Stockholm, V\u00e4rmland, Dalarna and G\u00e4vleborg, where many local organic farmers and food companies are involved.<\/p>\n

Organic and local \u2013 double added value for the consumer<\/h3>\n

In the debate, organic is often pitted against local. But during Eco-September we show that it is possible to have both. When food is both organic and locally produced, the consumer gets double added value. Many people want the food to be unsprayed, contribute to more biodiversity, cleaner water, more fertile soil and better animal welfare \u2013 and also come from farms in the local area. With Eco-September we want to highlight just that combination, says Charlotte Bladh Andr\u00e9.<\/p>\n

The aim of Eco-September is to get more stores to highlight organic on the shelves and get consumers to make more organic choices in their everyday lives. Behind the campaign is Organic Sweden together with the organization Ekologiska Lantbrukarna.<\/p>\n
