The Organic Market Conference<\/strong> organized jointly by OPTA Europe<\/strong> and A\u00f6L<\/strong> welcomed over 100 organic professionals for one energising day filled with market insights and meaningful connections. The event explored the trends shaping the organic marketplace and the tools supporting agri-food exporters.<\/p>\n

The conference held in Brussels offered an opportunity to professionals to exchange knowledge and reflect on the future of the sector. Opening the Conference, Stefan Hipp<\/strong>, President of OPTA Europe<\/strong>, underlined the key role of organic in a sustainable food system and the challenges ahead due to increasingly volatility and an uncertain market environment.<\/p>\n

The central panel of the conference was dedicated to exploring the market for organic products in four key EU countries<\/strong>, namely Spain, Denmark, Poland and The Netherlands. Four speakers shared knowledge and robust data about the key drivers of those markets and what\u2019s driving consumer behavior. The second part of the conference was devoted to the tools in place to support EU exporters of agri-food products.<\/p>\n

As the Congress concluded, the head of A\u00f6L and OPTA Europe stressed the many challenges ahead\u2014whether economic or geopolitical- and called for a more assertive trade strategy to open new markets for EU organic products.<\/p>\n

“When traditional markets slow down, companies must look for new ones. The internationalization of organic companies both within and outside the EU, is a reality. We are here to support them in the best way possible”, said Anne Baumann<\/strong>, head of A\u00f6L<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Aurora Abad<\/strong>, head of OPTA Europe<\/strong>, recalled the conditions that must be in place to increase exports. “Organic equivalence agreements play a crucial role in helping organic companies to access export markets and only a handful of third countries have concluded this type of agreement with the EU. We call the Commission and Members States to defend the sector more assertively and accelerate this kind of arrangements to increase sales of organic products outside the EU.”<\/p>\n
