In fact, Great Britain <strong>will recognise the EU as equivalent<\/strong> for the purpose of trade in organics until 31 December 2021, but products certified as organic in Great Britain will no longer use the European green leaf as an identifying logo.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>the equivalence between the British and European regulations will be maintained for next year<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On the one hand, <strong>food and feed registered as organic in the EU will continue to be accepted as organic in the UK <\/strong>until 31 December 2021. On the other hand, the EU will decide whether to continue accepting food and feed registered in the UK as organic from 1 January 2021.<\/p>\n<p>However, in terms of <strong>international trade<\/strong>, the most significant thing is that the equivalence between the British and European regulations will be maintained for next year, so that any product made in the EU under the protection of European regulations will continue to be accepted as organic in Great Britain until December 2021.<\/p>\n<h3>Certificates and labels<\/h3>\n<p>You\u2019ll still need to be certified by an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/organic-certification-list-of-uk-approved-organic-control-bodies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">approved UK organic control body<\/a>\u00a0if you produce, process or import organic food for trade within the UK. You also must include details of your organic control body on the label of organic food you produce, process, sell or import.<\/p>\n<h4>Using organic logos<\/h4>\n<p>You <strong>must not use the EU organic logo<\/strong> on any UK organic food or feed from 1 January 2021, unless either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your control body is authorised by the EU to certify UK goods for export to the EU<\/li>\n<li>The UK and the EU agree to recognise each other\u2019s standards (called equivalency)<\/li>\n<li>Contact your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/organic-certification-list-of-uk-approved-organic-control-bodies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">control body <\/a>to stay up to date.<\/li>\n<li>You can continue to use your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/organic-certification-list-of-uk-approved-organic-control-bodies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UK organic control body logo<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Find out about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/food-labelling-changes-after-brexit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">food labelling changes from 1 January 2021<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>Some non-EU countries may require an export certificate for each consignment<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure style=\"width: 433px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bioecoactual.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/euro_hoja.jpg\" alt=\"Organic Regulation Euro Hoja Reglamento sobre alimentaci\u00f3n ecol\u00f3gica Reglament sobre alimentaci\u00f3 ecol\u00f2gica reglamento de producci\u00f3n ecol\u00f3gica Reglament de producci\u00f3 ecol\u00f2gica El Consejo de la UE aprueba el nuevo reglamento de producci\u00f3n ecol\u00f3gica nou reglament de producci\u00f3 ecol\u00f2gica\" width=\"433\" height=\"290\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Euro Leaf, the EU organic logo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>Importing organic food to GB<\/h3>\n<p>You will no longer use the EU\u2019s Trade Control and Expert System New Technology (TRACES NT) to import organic food and feed. Instead, you\u2019ll use an interim manual UK organic import system from 1 January 2021.<\/p>\n<p>All your imported organic goods must have a certificate of inspection (CoI). You will not neeed a\u00a0CoI\u00a0if you\u2019re moving goods from Northern Ireland to Great Britain.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To request the forms for the manual UK organic import system,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/organic-certification-list-of-uk-approved-organic-control-bodies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">contact your organic control body<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Read the guidance on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/food-safety-as-a-food-distributor\/organic-produce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">importing organic food or feed <\/a>to find out the restrictions on organic produce imports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Exporting organic food to the EU<\/h3>\n<p>You will not be able to export organic food or feed to the EU, unless either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your UK control body is authorised by the EU to certify UK goods for export to the EU<\/li>\n<li>The UK and the EU agree to recognise each other\u2019s standards (called equivalency)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Exporting organic food to non-EU countries<\/h3>\n<p>Some non-EU countries may require an <strong>export certificate for each consignment<\/strong>. You should check with the country you\u2019re exporting to. Trading rules should stay the same for countries that accept UK goods without an equivalency arrangement (an agreement to accept each other\u2019s standards).<\/p>\n<p>The EU has equivalency arrangements with some <strong>non-EU countries<\/strong>. This guide will publish details of any trade agreements that the UK agrees with other EU countries to continue trading from 1 January 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) will contact importers and food manufacturers if any trade agreements change.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Different exporting rules may apply<\/strong> if equivalency is not agreed between the UK and non-EU countries from 1 January 2021. Contact the exporting control body in the country you\u2019re importing food from.
