It has been confirmed that Organic Food Iberia <\/strong>(OFI) will return to IFEMA Madrid on 8-9 September 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Organic Food Iberia is a boost for the organic sector<\/h2>\n

Launched as a partnership between Diversified Communications and\u00a0IFEMA MADRID<\/a>, the first instalment of OFI took place in\u00a02019\u00a0and was hailed as an \u2018overwhelming success\u2019, attracting 5,240 visitors from across Spain, Portugal and elsewhere in Europe, almost 500 exhibitors and significant media coverage. The inaugural show\u2019s popularity propelled it to claim a place among the top 20 trade events in Spain, as determined by the Instituto de Coordenadas de Gobernanza y Econom\u00eda Aplicada.<\/p>\n

The organic sector continues to grow<\/h3>\n

Against the backdrop of the global pandemic, in Spain \u2013 Europe\u2019s biggest organic producer \u2013 ECOVALIA reports that sales of organic have surged by 35% in the past year,<\/strong> with organic territory having increased by 38% over the past five years. The number of staff employed by the organic industry has also risen by 40%.<\/p>\n

The organic sector attracts new generations and invigorates both agriculture and the agri-food industry<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In 2020 the COVID-19 crisis<\/strong> prevented the event from running in its second year, but now, as the Iberian organic market navigates a path out the other side of the pandemic, exhibitors, buyers and key industry figures from each region have expressed that there is \u2018a clear need\u2019 for the show to take place in September, in order for the industry to \u2018unite, network, do business and recognize the importance of the sector\u2019.<\/p>\n

The first face-to-face agri-food event to be held in Spain<\/h3>\n

Commenting on the confirmation that this year\u2019s show will proceed, Diego Granado Cumbres<\/strong>, secretary general of ECOVALIA, says: “As the Premier Sponsor of Organic Food Iberia, the main event for organic production in southern Europe, we are excited about the decision to stage the fair from 8\u20139 September. Organic Food Iberia will be the first face-to-face agri-food event to be held in the country after a hard year and it will have a positive impact on an economy in need of exciting and dynamic connections”.<\/p>\n

Mireia Moll\u00e0 Herrera<\/strong>, counsellor at Agricultura, Desarrollo Rural, Emergencia Clim\u00e1tica y Transici\u00f3n Ecol\u00f3gica, Generalitat Valenciana \u2013 one of OFI\u2019s main regional supporters \u2013 adds: “Organic production is having a massive positive impact on people and the planet. This positive impact is attracting a young audience, which is, in turn, driving forward sustainable production within the agri-food industry. We have therefore chosen Organic Food Iberia \u2026 as the main opportunity to meet professional buyers and producers from the region of Valencia following the pandemic”.<\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Luis Yzuel<\/strong>, president of Hosteler\u00eda de Espa\u00f1a, calls the event \u2018a date you cannot miss for this industry because the future of hospitality will cross paths with sustainability.\u2019 “The return of Organic Food Iberia indicates a future of recovery, and the hospitality sector must be part of this to make sure we connect with shifting client tastes toward organic”.<\/p>\n

Organic Food Iberia 2021<\/h3>\n

OFI \u2013 which is set to take place alongside Eco Living Iberia \u2013 will feature pavilions for Andalucia, Madrid, Valencia, La Rioja, Castilla La Mancha, Portugal, Austria and Ecovalia, as well as keynote theatre talks, an Innovation Zone, a Hosted Buyer Programme (supported by ICEX) and the second round of ECO & Organic Awards Iberia, which celebrate the sector\u2019s most outstanding innovation.<\/p>\n

This year, OFI also includes several theaters with highly influential speakers from the industry<\/strong>, such as the very popular Innovation Zone, the Hosted Buyer program supported by ICEX, and lastly the exciting ECO & Organic Awards. Iberia, which celebrates the best of innovation that this sector offers.<\/p>\n

Organic Food Iberia takes place together with Eco Living Iberia<\/strong>, thus creating the most prestigious event for professionals in the organic and sustainable industry in the Iberian Peninsula. At the end of May, access to the registry will be announced to attend the fair, and the program will be available at the end of July.<\/p>\n
