The ‘Free From’<\/strong> category encompasses a growing range of dietary needs and a powerful player in retail, being a market segment that continues to grow, both in terms of supply and demand. The 9th edition of Free From Food & Health Ingredients<\/strong> is the best place to discover the latest developments in lactose-free, gluten-free and allergen-free<\/strong> products<\/strong>, for instance.<\/p>\n

The event is also the perfect platform for dietitians, health food stores and retailers in the Vegan<\/strong>, Functional food<\/strong> and Ingredients <\/strong>segments, who will find the latest innovations in plant-based products, vitamins, and food, diet and sports supplements.<\/p>\n

Organic<\/strong> products are booming and trend-setting in the food industry, so their presence at the event is especially important. \u201cWe are very committed to the organic sector as 80% of our exhibitors are organic-certified, among other certifications\u201d, claims Holman<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The organic sector continues to grow<\/h3>\n

Due to the conscious consumer mentality, the demand for food safety and awareness of health and environment benefits, organic products are increasingly adopted in the diets of consumers on a global scale.<\/p>\n

The latest data on organic farming worldwide published by the\u00a0Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL and IFOAM <\/strong>confirms a positive growth trend in the organic sector. More than 72.3 million hectares of farmland were organic<\/strong> in 2019, while the global organic food market reached 106 billion euros<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This continued development is an opportunity to transform European agriculture by putting organic at the centre. The European Commission<\/strong> approved the European Organic Action Plan<\/strong> 2021-2027 to contribute to the growth of the organic sector and the target of 25% organic production in the EU by 2030. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0plan\u00a0recognizes organic production as a\u00a0political tool<\/strong>\u00a0to transform the reality of agriculture and food consumption in the European Union, by meeting the objectives set out in the\u00a0Biodiversity<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Farm to Fork<\/em> strategies. The main objetive of the plan is to balance the necessary growth at the production level with a steady and sustained growth<\/strong> in demand<\/strong>. To achieve this, the budget allocations established and the measures envisaged are in line with the ambitious objectives, including new financial framework aimed at ensuring the organic transition of agri-food production, the development of national action plans and new budget allocations dedicated to the\u00a0promotion of organic agri-food products<\/strong> at EU level.<\/p>\n

Free From Expo: more than a trade show<\/h4>\n

Free From Food & Health Ingredients<\/strong> is more than a trade show. It is an opportunity to network, gain knowledge and do business. That is why producers, brand owners, researchers, food professionals, buyers and dietitians have joined the growing Free From community. \u201cTo strengthen healthy lifestyle claims on the products, trade shows make connections between buyer and supplier to keep up with this demand\u201d, says Ronald Holman<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
