From 26 to 28 September<\/strong>, Cordoba will host the most important event for the organic sector in Europe: the European Organic Congress (EOC23)<\/strong>. Distribution, promotion, innovation, global trends in the organic sector and generational change are some of the issues to be addressed in it’s programme. The conference will take place on 26th and 27th September at the Cordoba Conference Centre. The 28th is reserved for the field session.<\/p>\n

Day one: 26 September<\/h2>\n

The sessions will kick off on the 26 September with the opening session at 10am. At 10:30 a.m., the first round table will take place, entitled ‘Opportunities and challenges for a sustainable agri-food system’<\/em>. The morning session will be rounded off at 12.30 p.m. with the ‘Organic market challenges: Best practices & assuring fairness in the supply chain’ session<\/em>. The afternoon session will begin at 14:45 with a talk on ‘Ensuring generational renewal in the organic companies’<\/em> and will conclude at 16:45 with ‘Promoting organic farming under the EU and national promotional schemes’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Day two: 27 September<\/h3>\n

La segunda jornada empezar\u00e1 el 27, a las 9:00 horas, con la sesi\u00f3n de apertura, que dar\u00e1 paso, a las 9:20 horas, a la ponencia ‘<\/strong>Objetivo 25% de superficie agraria en producci\u00f3n ecol\u00f3gica: escenarios para 2030′<\/em>. A las 10:00 horas tendr\u00e1n lugar las sesiones paralelas: ‘Tendencias en los mercados internacionales de productos ecol\u00f3gicos’ <\/em>e ‘Investigaci\u00f3n y desarrollo en producci\u00f3n ecol\u00f3gica’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The second day will begin on the 27 September, at 9:00 am, with the opening session, which will give way, at 9:20 am, to the keynote ‘25% Organic Target’<\/em>. At 10:00 two break out sessions will take place: ‘Trends in international markets for organic products’<\/em> and ‘Research and development in organic production’.<\/em><\/p>\n

This will be followed by the ‘Innovation in organic certification’<\/em> and ‘Facing the climate crisis: contributions of organic production to climate change mitigation’\u00a0<\/em>sessions, at 11:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

The conference will take place on 26th and 27th September at the Cordoba Conference Centre<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

La ma\u00f1ana concluir\u00e1 con la mesa ‘M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las nuevas t\u00e9cnicas gen\u00f3micas: mejora sostenible en agricultura ecol\u00f3gica’<\/em>. La tarde acoger\u00e1 la \u00faltima ponencia: ‘Alimentos ecol\u00f3gicos en cada mesa: alimentos ecol\u00f3gicos en la restauraci\u00f3n’,<\/em> que dar\u00e1 paso a la clausura del congreso a las 15:45 horas.<\/p>\n

The morning will conclude with the panel ‘Beyond New Genomic Techniques – Sustainable breeding in organic farming’.<\/em> The afternoon will host the last presentation: ‘Organic on every table – hotels, restaurants and catering’,<\/em> which will give way to the closing of the congress at 15:45.<\/p>\n

Day three: 28 September<\/h4>\n

The 28th is reserved for the field session<\/strong> with a visit to the facilities of an ecological industry located in the Vega del Guadalquivir, a particularly relevant farm due to the investment made in biodiversity and the use of ICTs. Those interested in participating will be able to benefit from discounted rates until 17 July.<\/p>\n

The president of Ecovalia<\/strong>, \u00c1lvaro Barrera<\/strong>, assures that this Congress “will put the Spanish organic sector at the heart of the agenda. During these days, Cordoba will become the European capital of organic production with this event, which will be the most important for the sector. This will undoubtedly be the moment to demonstrate the potential of the organic sector in our country”.<\/p>\n

The 28th is reserved for the field session<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Honorary Committee of the XVII European Organic Congress<\/strong> will be formed by: Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, President of the Regional Government of Andalusia; Luis Planas Purchades, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food; Carmen Crespo D\u00edaz, Regional Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of the Regional Government of Andalusia; Concepci\u00f3n Fabeiro Cort\u00e9s, President of the Spanish Society of Organic Agriculture; Rosa Gallardo Cobos, Director of the Technical School of Agricultural and Forestry Engineers of Cordoba; Manuel Hidalgo Prieto, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Cordoba and Clemente Mata Moreno, Emeritus Professor of Animal Production at the University of Cordoba.<\/p>\n

The European Organic Congress<\/strong> has the institutional support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of the Spanish Government; the Andalusian Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development and the Cordoba Provincial Council which, together with numerous private collaborators, have contributed to making this event possible.<\/p>\n
