The highly anticipated second edition of the Organics Europe Youth Event will take place in Bari, Italy, on 8-9 July 2024. Organised by IFOAM Organics Europe and hosted by CIHEAM BARI, the event serves as a platform for young individuals passionate about organic agriculture to convene, exchange ideas, and delve into discussions on the opportunities and obstacles within food production and its role in fostering sustainable food systems.
Organic and You(th) – Building Resilient Food Futures
OEYE 2024 will welcome attendees from various backgrounds such as farming, retail, certification and control, processing, research, advocacy, and politics. The event will provide an opportunity for them to exchange perspectives and generate innovative ideas to shape the future toward a sustainable agricultural system.
Following the success of the first Organics Europe Youth Event in 2022, this year’s edition has reached its maximum capacity.

Monday, 8 July
The program starts on Monday, 8 July at 14:00 with a welcome session followed by the panel talk ‘Who is who in sustainable food systems? Organic, agroecology, biodynamic and regenerative – together for sustainable farming’, at 14:45, with Clara Bosch (Research and knowledge sharing coordinator, Fundación Regeneration Academy), Karla Škorjanc (Executive Manager, Agricultural cooperative Island of Krk), Marco Paravicini (Biodynamic Farmer, Vice – President, FederBio) and Rudolfs Pulkstenis (Organic Farmer, Vice-President, CEJA).
After a break, at 16:00, two blocks of learning lectures will offer parallel, knowledge-based sessions designed for educational purposes. Participants can choose to join one of the two lectures in each block:
- Learning lecture 1.1: Unlocking opportunities: Youth and Access to land.
- Learning lecture 1.2: Sustaining Communities: The potential of Biodistricts in nurturing rural vitality.
- Learning lecture 2.1: Gender in agriculture.
- Learning lecture 2.2: Growing Forward: Farming in the digital age.
The first day will end with an Apero & Speed networking session, a dinner and an evening program, featuring local folk dance show & music by Tamburellisti di Torre Paduli and a dance hall.

Tuesday, 9 July
The second day will start at 8:00 with an optional yoga and meditation session. The program will feature the opening speach: The role of organic in fair and healthy food systems.
At 10:00, the parallel sessions will be introduced:
- Parallel session 1.1: Organic content creators: practical ways to make organic attractive with an organic content creator.
- Parallel session 1.2: Open Innovation: how it can support young people in innovating their organic businesses at both process and product levels.
- Parallel session 1.3: Leadership workshop: Creating young organic leader’s network.
- Parallel session 2.1: Fostering local food democracy: exponents of the Italian Local Food Policies Network.
- Parallel session 2.2: Living Labs: as enabling ecosystems and strong support for innovation in both rural and urban areas.
- Parallel session 2.3: How can young people play a role in Sustainable Public Procurement?
- Parallel session 2.4: Immigration and farmworkers rights.
After lunch, the panel talk ‘Growing green: Insights from organic entrepreneurs’ will feature Giovanni Battista Girolomoni (President, Gino Girolomoni Cooperativa Agricola), Josefine van Marlen (Nana Bio), Stephanie Painter (Co-Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder, Painterland Sisters) and Johan Henrik Kintzell Frøstrup (Managing Director, Debio).
The keynote ‘Food as a Source of Social Sustainability and Community’ will close the program at 16:15, followed by the closing ceremony with a wrap-up and closing remarks by the hosts, and statement of the results in 10 conclusions.
Wednesday, 10 July
Individuals attending the Organics Europe Youth Event have the option to partake in an additional excursion on 10 July. Each excursion will showcase inspiring sustainable practices of organic food production.
