Under the focus theme ‘Growing Tomorrow: Young Voices, Bold Visions’, BIOFACH 2026 will spotlight how a new generation of changemakers is driving organic food and farming forward in an increasingly unstable world.
As the European umbrella organisation for organic agriculture, IFOAM Organics Europe is actively involved at BIOFACH 2026, contributing to the congress programme and welcoming visitors at its stand in Hall 1, Booth 351. The organisation will host a rich agenda of high-level policy debates, market insights, science sessions and intergenerational dialogues that matter the most for the future of organic in Europe.
New generation of consumers and organic – how to communicate organic values
The programme opens on 10 February with the IFOAM Organics Europe Business Day 2026, dedicated to one of the sector’s most pressing questions: how can organic better connect with a new generation of consumers?
The Business Day will offer a unique space for leaders in the organic sector to rethink how we communicate organic values. A provocative keynote will set the tone, sparking debate on how organic is perceived in today’s fast-changing marketplace. Through an interactive fishbowl discussion, participants will engage directly with industry pioneers and communication experts, exchanging ideas, challenges, and success stories.

High-level EU policy debates at the heart of BIOFACH
BIOFACH 2026 comes at a critical political moment for organic in Europe. IFOAM Organics Europe will host a series of policy sessions, including the signature session IFOAM Organics Europe Policy Day 2026: Smart Rules, Smart Action for a Strong and Competitive Organic Sector.
High-level speakers such as Elisabeth Werner, Director-General at DG AGRI, European Commission, and Jan Plagge, President of IFOAM Organics Europe, will discuss the revision of the EU Organic Regulation, the renewed Organic Action Plan and their implications for farmers, businesses and international trade.
Further sessions will dive into EU Organic Regulation updates, nature credits, biocontrol products, and the latest developments on New Genomic Techniques – ensuring BIOFACH visitors gain first-hand insights into the policies shaping organic’s future.
Spotlight on the young changemakers
As next generation is a key theme across the programme, IFOAM Organics Europe sheds a light on the opportunities and challenges across the organic value chain.
Young organic farmers take centre stage in the session ‘Is the Future of CAP Finance for Young People in Danger?’ on 11 February. This panel will explore what the new CAP proposal means for young organic farmers and will connect it to key recommendations from the Organic Targets for the EU project.
Following the CAP session, the ‘Generational Renewal in the Organic Food Sector – The Why and the How’ on 11 February will bring together young organic entrepreneurs to highlight that renewal across the whole supply chain matters.
Special celebration at the booth 351
Beyond the conference rooms, IFOAM Organics Europe invites all BIOFACH participants to visit Hall 1, Booth 351 – a space to meet the team, discuss policy priorities, explore ongoing projects and connect with the wider organic network. On 11 February evening, the booth will also host a Special Booth Party celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Organics Europe Youth Network.
