Spain’s exciting new international organic trade fair Organic Food Iberal welcomes IFOAM EU as a major association partner ahead of its highly anticipated launch event at IFEMA Feria de Madrid, on 6-7 June.
IFOAM, Europe’s lead organic advocacy group, is a pivotal partner for the new show, which is set to bring the whole of the Iberian Peninsula and Mediterranean region together for two action-packed days of business and networking, product launches and tastings, innovation and insights, and exclusive free seminars, chef demos and Keynotes by some of the biggest names in the organic world.
Eduardo Cuoco, director of IFOAM EU (and one of the show’s 60+ speakers) says: “Spain is a powerhouse of organic production in Europe, and Organic Food Iberia is a timely initiative that will contribute to linking the different actors of the organic supply chain and to developing the local organic markets of Spain and Portugal.
“I hope that the event will incentivise the Spanish and Portuguese governments to recognise the benefits of organic farming for the economy and the environment, and further support its development. I am confident that Organic Food Iberia will facilitate the cooperation among our members in the Iberian Peninsula and create momentum for increased IFOAM EU membership in these countries, so we further strengthen the European organic movement.”
The event will feature over 500 exhibiting companies that will show the best ecological products
Mr Cuoco will be taking part in Organic Food Iberia’s opening ceremony and co-presenting an opening day Keynote on the latest developments in organic food and farming worldwide (in the show’s Organic Theatre, with Julia Lernoud from FiBL).
IFOAM EU, together with Ecovalia and AgroBio, also plans to host a meeting for its members at the show to discuss hot topics, such as the current reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the implementation of the new EU organic regulation.
Reflecting the show’s significant industry support, its three dedicated seminar theatres (the Organic Theatre, Kitchen Theatre and Eco Living & Beauty Theatre) will boast a raft of association-led sessions.
The full line-up, set to be announced next week, will include speakers from SOW – Spanish Organic Wines, ECOVALIA, AECOC (The association of manufacturers and distributors in Spain), AESECO – Association of Ecological Entrepreneurs and Supermarkets, Sustainable Restaurants (Asociación Restaurantes Sostenibles), Organic Denmark, NOC Sweden, Asociación Vida Sana, GRUPO ECOCERT-España, CAAE eco cosmética, NATRUE, Carrefour Bio, Compass Group Intereco, FiBL – the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture, Euromonitor, EcoLogical.bio, NaturalProductsGlobal.com, and more.
