In 2024 the Fit4Future Platform was tasked to advise the EU Commission in simplifying the legislation governing the organic sector and making it easier to implement and less costly. Member States and stakeholders got down to work and drew up a list of concrete recommendations, which fed into the Fit4Future Platform’s opinion.

OPTA Europe applauds the call from 17 Member States on the EU Commission to translate the Fit4Future’s recommendations into concrete actions, at the occasion of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council on 27 January.

“We are following the debate with great attention and hope that the Fit4Future’s recommendations will be implemented without delay,” said Aurora Abad, Secretary General of OPTA Europe. “With the experience gained since the rules came into force, the sector’s players have clearly identified what needs to be changed to get it back on track. Now we need the political will to put these changes into effect as soon as possible.”
